Growing up as kaiju fans, we created this character to reflect not only our childhood memories but also looking at the deeper meanings behind this pop culture icon through a more light-hearted and humorous illustration style.

Godzelato is a baby kaiju who loves to eat gelato. His first encounter with humans did not go very well. Humans usually are afraid of the unknown. When humans first saw Godzelato, they automatically felt threatened and attacked him with weapons. However, all Godzelato wanted was to befriend humans. Instead of fighting back with humans’ attacks, he turned all weapons into gelato and ice cream cones. Humans finally realized that Godzelato meant no harm and just wanted to share a scoop of gelato with them. Now Godzelato is traveling from city to city to play and share gelatos with people.

The Godzelato project started with our love for kaiju and we wanted to create a series of stories from a baby Godzelato’s point of view. It might sound silly to solve all the problems with gelato , but if we all hold on to the pureness and simplicity in our hearts like the baby Godzelato, maybe the world would be a better place? Maybe, just maybe. Anyway, let’s go enjoy some gelato!!
